FOUR people from Southampton are due to appear in court today over climate change protests held in Bristol last week.

Officers from Avon and Somerset Police have charged a total of 16 people wilfully obstructing a public highway over the Extinction Rebellion demonstrations on Wednesday.

The protests were held in Bristol city centre and impacted on the M32.

Those from Southampton who were charged were Christelle Blunden, 37, of Tremona Road, Shirley Warren; Timothy Andrew Miller, 37, and Helen Miller, 42, both of Imperial Avenue, Shirley; and Imogen Phillips, 20, of Warsash, just outside the city boundary.

All 16 people who were charged are due to appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 19.
