‘THE best results for several years’ have been celebrated by Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg GCSE pupils and staff.

Eighty per cent of pupils gained the Level 2+ (five GCSEs including Welsh or English and mathematics), an improvement of 12.6 per centage points since 2018.

And 31.6 per cent of the cohort (improvement of 1.2 percentage points) achieved five or more A*/A grades which included mathematics and English or Welsh, while 87.1 per cent of pupils gained five or more Level 2 qualifications – an improvement of 2.1 percentage points).

Head teacher, Hwyel Price said: “I wish to congratulate all pupils and staff of Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg on the excellent GCSE results.

“These are the best results for several years.

“This is testimony to the endeavours of the departments and diligence of the pupils.

“We are extremely pleased that every pupil will leave the school this year with a qualification.

“Pupils of all abilities have succeeded and deserve to celebrate their success.

Among the high performers were Cadi Haf Rhys-Binney 13 A* and distinction in additional mathematics; Heath Webb 13 A* and distinction in additional mathematics; Glesni Sion 12 A*, 1A and distinction in additional mathematics; Alys Evans 12 A*, 1A and distinction in additional mathematics; Morgan Bailey 11 A*, 2A and distinction in additional mathematics; Idris Merry 11 A*, 2A and additional mathematics; Thomas Pugh 9A*, 4A and distinction in additional mathematics; Rhodri Lawton 8A*, 5A and distinction in additional mathematics; Bethan Lee 8A*, 5A and distinction in additional mathematics; Rhys Griffiths 8A*, 5A and distinction in additional mathematics; Beca Evans 8A*, 5A and additional mathematics; Erin Anstey 7A*, 5A, 1B and additional mathematics; Ioan Davies 6A*, 6A,1B and additional mathematics; and Lowri McIntyre 6A*, 7A and additional mathematics
