NEWPORT County AFC have announced the signing of 25-year-old striker Dominic Poleon.

A free agent, most recently with Crawley Town, Poleon started his career at Chelsea, before coming through the youth ranks of Leeds United where he signed his first-ever professional contract.

Following two loan spells at Bury and Sheffield United, he has also featured for Oldham Athletic, AFC Wimbledon and Bradford City.

Poleon joined Crawley in August 2018 and made 30 appearances for the club last season, scoring five goals.

His contract was cancelled by the club earlier today so that he could sign for the Exiles.

After finalising the deal, Poleon said: “I'm delighted to join Newport. I am really looking forward to getting started and playing in front of the County fans."

Manager Michael Flynn said: "Dominic is coming in hungry and looking forward to a fresh challenge. He’s very quick and will add more competition to the squad in the attacking area.”

Crawley revealed that, under the terms of his contract, Poleon won’t be able to play against them for County this season.

They added: "We wish Dom all the best for his future career and thank him for his services to Crawley Town."
