Police have launched an investigation after a terrifying knife attack on a car in Glasgow city centre.

A female driver was stopped at traffic lights on Castle Street, near Glasgow Royal Infirmary, on Monday night, when two men began to attack the vehicle.

They are said to have left a taxi and attacked the windows of the Mercedes with knives while the terrified 23-year-old female driver sat inside.

She managed to drive away unscathed.

Detectives are now searching for those responsible, and are urging any witnesses to come forward.

The two suspects are described as white men with slim builds. One was wearing a dark hooded top with the hood over his head and grey jogging bottoms.

The second man was wearing a black tracksuit.

Detective Constable Kimberley Douglas, of Stewart Street CID, said: "No one was injured in the attack but it was a frightening experience.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and CCTV footage is being reviewed."

Anyone with information about the incident or who saw anyone matching the descriptions of the suspects in that area around 9pm is asked to contact police immediately.
