BONFIRE Night came early to the Vale when a telephone cable pole caught fire.
A number of homes were evacuated and 83 homes were temporarily without power.
Electricity has been returned to the area after staff from Western Power Distribution worked through the night.
No rail services were affected by the fire.
Exposed electrical cables were in the road and there were temporary lights in place on Cardiff Road in both directions around the rail station, with the road reopened around 2am.
