A MUM-OF-SIX has been awarded a Vale council community chest grant of £499 to help in her mission to increase fitness for all generations.

Chelle Grant, of Barry, holds Buggbybeat indoor fitness classes in Cadoxton Methodist Church, after re-locating from Victoria Park, for the autumn and winter seasons.

And the 48-year-old mum, a qualified level 3 personal trainer, Buggybeat instructor, gym instructor, and one-to-one trainer, also caters for the over 50 age group and works with Newydd Housing Association’s sheltered home tenants by giving them fitness sessions.

Ms Grant said: “I was delighted that I was successful in the recent round of the community chest awards.

“This money means I can increase participation levels for my classes and has enabled me to purchase advertising materials and equipment for my classes.

“I run forever fitness which is a gentle exercise class for the over 50s

“The aim is to increase mobility and independence, using light resistance bands to improve strength, co-ordination and balance.

“The class will be 30 minutes with seated or standing exercises depending on ability with refreshments after so the class has a social element.

“I have completed my dementia friendly training course so my classes are dementia friendly too.

“It is £3 per session.”

Her Buggybeat with Chelle class in Cadoxton Methodist Church, at 9.30am on Tuesdays is an opportunity for mums, dads, grandparents to get active with little one, all fitness levels welcome and the chance to make new friends.

It costs £4 per session no pre booking required.

Her Ease into Exercise class, in Gibbonsdown community centre, at 7pm on Wednesday is suitable for beginners upwards.

Bring a mat, a towel and bottle of water and costs £4 per session.
