PENARTH’S independent bookshop, Griffin Books, has a whole host of literary delights planned for the coming weeks.

Upcoming events include: The Shape of Night, with internationally bestselling crime author Tess Gerritsen on October 29; a riotous evening in the company of comedian and all-round entertainer Stifyn Parri on October 31; and an evening with BAFTA award-winning writer Matthew Hall on November 27, who will be talking about his novels and the TV phenomenon Keeping Faith.

American author Tess Gerritsen is best known for her popular Rizzoli and Isles series, featuring police detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles.

Her books have been published in 40 countries, with more than 30 million copies sold globally.

Join Tess on Tuesday, October 29, at 7.30pm at the Glamorganshire Golf Club, where she will be talking about her latest novel, a standalone gothic thriller called The Shape of Night.

On Thursday, October 31, at 7.30pm in Penarth Pier Pavilion, entrepreneur, stand-up comedian and all-round entertainer Stifyn Parri will share stories from his newly published autobiography, Out with It! / Allan â Fo! - the first ever bilingual English and Welsh back-to-back autobiography of its kind.

Mr Parri will share some of the most outrageous, naughty and colourful stories from his life and career; from backstage dramas at Les Misérables, to behind the scenes on Brookside, superstar tantrums and royal embarrassments, to encounters with stars like Catherine Zeta Jones, Siân Phillips, Shirley Bassey, Grace Jones and Bonnie Tyler.
