A CRICKET club is delighted to have been chosen to benefit from the Co-op local community fund.
The funding has come at a time when access to money like this is becoming difficult for groups like Wigton Cricket Club.
A spokesman for the club said: “We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity to make a real difference in Wigton.
“We are raising funds to replace the safety netting at our outdoor all-weather practise facility.”
The cricket club aims to engage all parts of the community, regardless of age and gender, in physical sporting activity and an appreciation of the game of cricket.
The netted practise area is available to the whole community, not just members of the cricket club.
To help raise funds the club will be relying on Co-op members.
When members by selected products or services they earn a five per cent reward for themselves, with a further one per cent for local causes like Wigton Cricket Club.
If you’re not a member and would like to support the fund, you can join at your local store or online on the Co-op’s website.
Co-op members can choose a cause by going online www.coop.co.uk/membership.
