NEWPORT County AFC manager Michael Flynn has suffered a blow with the news that defender Danny McNamara has been recalled to his parent club Millwall following a loan spell with the Exiles.

The 21-year-old right-back played 23 times for County since arriving in July and has been a big hit during his time at Rodney Parade, with his form in League Two earning him a debut for the Republic of Ireland under-21s.

South Wales Argus:

McNamara was unable to play against his parent club as Millwall beat the Exiles 3-0 in Saturday's FA Cup clash.

His last match for Flynn's was the 1-1 home draw with Cheltenham Town on New Year's Day.

Following his departure, Flynn said: "I'd like to thank Danny for all of his efforts whilst at the club, as well as Millwall for allowing this move to happen.

"Everyone connected with County wishes Danny all the best in the future."
