THE Barry Island branch of Greggs has re-opened after Storm Dennis left its mark on stores throughout South Wales.

The Paget Road food outlet closed on Tuesday, February 18 and re-opened for business on Monday, February 24.

The closure was due to the Greggs Treforest distribution factory being affected by flooding.

The Holton Road branch remained open, but with some products unavailable.

Shop manager, Katherine Lewis said: “Our bakery got flooded in Treforest and they couldn’t get in there.

"A lot of the drivers lost their vehicles so they had to take a decision to close so many shops because they couldn’t supply all the shops.

“They closed some of the quieter ones."

She added: “I think our customers missed us - so we’ve got to get them knowing we are open again.

“We want our customers back.”

The Barry Island store is open Monday to Friday 7am to 5.30pm; Saturday 7am to 6pm; and Sunday 7.30am to 4.30pm.
