PUPILS from primary schools across Penarth have been celebrating the patron Saint of Wales, St David, this week.
This year the day itself - March 1 - fell on a Sunday.
Undeterred, pupils from local schools turned red in honour of Dewi Sant.
This week, the Penarth Times features photographs from Eisteddfod celebrations at Albert Primary School, Sully Primary School, Evenlode and Victoria Primary School.
Children and pupils dressed in array of costumes, including traditional Welsh attire, rugby tops, daffodils, and dragons.
As is the tradition during an Eisteddfod, Albert Primary held a Chairing of the Bard ceremony.
This year’s winning poem, My Wales, was written and performed by a Year 6 student:
“Sun rises, an amber orange light falls across the field,
The golden daffodils awaken, with regal poise each one reaching for the sky, ready for a new day full of wonder.
My Wales.”
Submit photographs of your St. David’s Day celebrations for inclusion in next week’s Penarth Times.
