The Penarth RNLI were deployed to the River Taff in Cardiff this morning following reports of an upturned and submerged vehicle in Pontcanna, Cardiff.
The voluntary crew attended the site shortly after 8:15am with the Penarth Coastguard crew and South Wales Fire and Rescue.
The two RNLI lifeboats searched the area and provided cover for those investigating the vehicle in the water.
It was later established that the vehicle was unoccupied.
A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire and Rescue said: "At approximately 7:55am on Friday March 6, we received reports of a vehicle in the water in Pontcanna, Cardiff.
"Specialist rescue teams and crews were deployed and attended the scene alongside our emergency services partners.
"Following a search there were found to have been no persons reported in the vehicle."
