PENARTH’S independent bookshop, Griffin Books, has urged the public to ‘maintain a good supply of reading material’ as the government introduces self-isolation measures designed to tackle the Covid-19 crisis.

It takes its place alongside several local businesses which have been forced to adapt to the economic and public health emergency caused by the Coronavirus epidemic.

The store, which is located on Windsor Road, has announced that it will stay open until advised otherwise, and will provide a free home delivery service for people in self-isolation.

A spokeswoman for the store said:

“The shelves of Griffin Books are fully stocked and for those people able to visit the shop in person, be assured that they are following all relevant hygiene guidance to protect customers and staff.

“For those who are self-isolating, the shop is taking orders over the phone, via the ordering form on their website, and via social media channels.

“Most notably we will be offering a free home delivery service in the Penarth, Dinas Powys and Sully areas, and can post books to customers further afield.

“The shop’s weekly Toddler Storytime session has been cancelled until further notice and Book Club meetings will not be taking place in the shop. “Alternative options for virtual Book Clubs are being explored and further details will be announced soon.”
