THE PENARTH Probus Club has honoured the contribution of a long-standing member, despite the ceremony being cancelled due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

The club was due to hold its annual general meeting on Tuesday, March 17, but the event was postponed until a suitable future date.

The Probus Club President, Alun Daniels, was scheduled to recognise the work of two long-serving officers, Graham Crimp, MBE, and Val Kacal, in recognition of their invaluable contribution to the club.

Rather than delay the presentations, Mr Daniels arranged for them to be carried out at the home of Graham Crimp.

Mr Crimp was presented with a special certificate in recognition of his exceptional work as the Honorary Treasurer of the club for 20 years.

Due to ill-health he has had to stand down from that position.

The club said his contribution over the years was very much appreciated by all members.

Val Kacal was also presented with a special certificate in recognition of his exceptional work as the Honorary Secretary of the club for over 10 years.

His health has also meant that he has stood down from this position but will continue as the club’s Events Organiser.

The club looks forward to his ongoing engagement in organizing events.

As is custom and practice with the club on such special occasions, Graham and Val were also presented with a bottle of whisky each.

The club would like to make clear that new members are always welcome at Probus.

It is open to both retired and semi-retired men of any age.
