CORONAVIRUS has caused unprecedented disruptions to daily life. Here we have compiled information on how the outbreak has affected essential stores and services in Penarth. We also include a list of voluntary groups which can support vulnerable people in the community.

Essential stores

All services will be running as normal at Glebe Street Post Office. Vulnerable customers can call: 07809592231.

Windsor Road, Washington, and Ivor Owen pharmacies are open and are offering a delivery service. Call: 029 20707568.

Several grocery stores are also offering a delivery service: Fourways Newsagents will deliver for free to Penarth, Sully, Cogan, and Llandough. Call: 02920 707759. Waste collection

The Vale Council have temporarily raised the black bag limit to four, but ask residents to fill two bags if possible.

Recycling centres have been closed until further notice, and garden waste collections will resume on Monday March 6.

Transport

Most Cardiff Bus routes now operate on a Sunday timetable, including the 92 and 94. Route 93 has been suspended, whilst the 95 has additional buses during weekday mornings and evenings for Llandough Hospital. More information here: www.cardiffbus.com/coronavirus.

Support services

Several voluntary services have been established to support the elderly and vulnerable.

Age Connects is offering shopping support, prescriptions, and phone calls. For Eastern Vale, call: 07483 057373

Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern, a registered charity, is coordinating help for those who are self-isolating. To refer someone in need, email: dpvc@btinternet.com.

Mind in the Vale are offering telephone support for people struggling with mental health. Call: 01446 730792.
