A DELICATESSEN which once catered for royalty has bestowed right royal recognition on its loyal customers.

Foxys Deli and café in the Royal Buildings, in Victoria Road, Penarth, previously catered for HRH, Prince Andrew, but since coronavirus lockdown measures were introduced in March, Vale residents have rallied with support.

The business, fearing for survival, acted quickly to survive and has now created a wall to celebrates its heroes.

Mrs Fox said: “When we heard that we would have to close on March, we knew we had to act quickly to survive.

“We also thought of all the customers who rely on us for their favourite food and meals and we immediately introduced our delivery service.

“The people of Penarth and surrounding areas were quick to react and the orders came flooding in.

“We were overwhelmed with support and messages of encouragement and some individual sad stories too.

“We even had a regular customer offer us money - the equivalent of what she would normally spend with us in a week.

“We passed this on to a nurse coming off a long shift and was shopping for her elderly mum.”

“We have delivered so many afternoon teas to people - some on their own - from family who live far away.

“There are have been tears on the doorstep from them and me.

“We have had reports of customers dressing up in the theme of the meals we delivery - Moroccan harem pants and a toga for our Greek salad.

“As a result of all this good will, we decided to create a wall of our heroes, our customers, which we have put up on the windows of Foxys.

“All the names of people who have supported us and helped us to continue trading are displayed on the two.

“Please continue to support us.

“We not over this yet and we do really want to keep our doors open when life gets back to normal.
