A TRIO of energetic fundraising mums have vowed that the coronavirus lockdown will not thwart their charitable mission.

Mum-of-two Julia Bakshi, mum-of-three Julie Johnson, and mum-of-one Charlotte Court - collectively known as Welsh Tough Titties - have been raising much needed funds - for City Hospice who care for terminally ill patients at the heart of the Cardiff community, over the last six months.

To date Mrs Bakshi, of Llandough, and Mrs Johnson, and Mrs Court, both of Penarth, have raised £830 for City Hospice; £300 to feed key workers and £1463.60 for Walkthewalk BreastCancer.

Local operatic group vows the show will go on after lockdown

In May they should have gone 'Out of this World' for The MoonWalk London 2020, but the event has been cancelled due to covid-19.

Having put in the training, they have decided to take on their own socially distanced challenge - the 26.2mile Sunrise Walk.

On Sunday, May 17, the Welsh Tough Titties will walked from Llandough, across Cardiff Bay Barrage, down the Taff Trail to Castle Coch, and back again, live on Facebook.

Mrs Bakshi said “We weren’t to be deterred, we were trained and ready – and to be honest, charities need our help now more than ever with fundraising events being cancelled.

“We’ve chosen three charities to benefit from our fundraising - Feed the Key Workers because Charlotte and her husband have been doing this twice a week during lockdown from their Penarth Café Willmores 1938, Breast Cancer, and The City Hospice.

“Donations will be gratefully received via any one of the three separate fundraising platforms we’ve set up – one for each charity."

The friends will walk their second marathon on June 14 as they should have been in Edinburgh on June 6.
