A MAN was warned he could be going to prison after he admitted an attack on a woman involving a dog lead.
Phillip Coates, 30, of Market Street, Blaenavon, pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on his victim in Newport last year.
Cardiff Crown Court heard he admitted the offence on a basis of plea which was accepted by prosecutor Peter Donnison.
Judge Richard Twomlow told Coates: “It is accepted that you didn’t intend to cause injury but this was a reckless assault.”

He said the victim had suffered a “very unpleasant injury”.
Coates, who was represented by Owen Williams, admitted the offence on the day of his trial and was warned by the judge: “All sentencing options are open.”
The case was adjourned until June 19 so that a pre-sentence report could be prepared and the defendant was granted conditional bail.
