POLICE data from January this year until May has revealed that anti-social behaviour is the most common crime in Penarth.

Using the data, we looked at the statistics for criminal activity at Penarth’s top 10 main streets and places this year, and top of the pile for crime was Upper Cosmeston Farm, while Beach Road wasn’t far behind.

According to the data, there have been no crimes that took place in Penarth on Windsor Road or Redlands Road in 2020.

These are the top ten places in the town for crime so far this year.

On or near Upper Cosmeston Farm
- Crimes reported: 14
- Every case reported at Upper Cosmeston Farm was an anti-social behaviour case

On or near Beach Road
- Crimes reported: 10
- Anti-social behaviour: 4
- Public order: 2
- Vehicle crime: 2
- Violence or sexual offence: 1
- Possession of weapons: 1

On or near The Esplanade
- Crimes reported: 5
- Every case reported here was also anti-social behaviour

On or near Glebe Street
- Crimes reported: 5
- Anti-social behaviour: 2
- Violence or sexual offence: 2
- Public order: 1

On or near Albert Road
- Crimes reported: 3
- Violence or sexual offence: 2
- Criminal damage or arson: 1

Penarth Times:

On or near Plassey Street
- Crimes reported: 2
- One of the crimes reported was a public disorder offence, while the other was “theft from the person”.

On or near Stanwell Road
- Crimes reported: 2
- One crime was theft and the other was shoplifting.

On or near Lavernock Road
- Crimes reported: 2
- One crime was anti-social behaviour and the other was violence or a sexual offence.

On or near Penarth Portway
- Crimes reported: 1
- The only crime reported was anti-social behaviour.

On or near Cornerswell Road
- Crimes reported: 1
- The only crime reported was “other theft”.
