A NEW multi-use games area has been completed in Llandough thanks to work between the Vale Council, Llandough Community Council and young people in the village.

Children had been consulted by the community council on the type of facility they wanted to see at King George V Playing Fields, and the two councils have worked to deliver it.

The facility, which will provide an all-weather surface and is suitable for a range of activities, including football, basketball and netball, cost over £85,000 to construct.

Penarth Times:

Funding came from the Strong Communities Grant Fund, a Sport Wales grant, section 106 contributions from nearby developments and reserves from Llandough Community Council.

Cllr Kathryn McCaffer, Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet Member for Leisure, Arts and Culture, said: “We are very pleased with the new multi-use games area which is much needed in Llandough.  This is an excellent example of what can be achieved through effective cooperation between a local authority and a community council to deliver much needed facilities. I would like to thank Llandough Community Council for their hard work and dedication to the delivery this project.”

Chairman of the MUGA Working Party, Community Councillor Dr Mo Misra said: “We are extremely grateful for the support we have had from the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Sport Wales, which has enabled us to build this superb facility for the village. We are confident that the youngsters of Llandough will appreciate and enjoy this impressive facility for years to come.”
