Woman stole from gran whilst high on drugs
Jennifer Stewart, 35, was high on drugs when she grappled with her gran and stole her purse, containing £300 to buy drugs.
Preston Crown Court heard Stewart, of Marsh Street, had taken a cocktail of booze and drugs when she visited her 88-year-grandmother at her home in Barrow on June 1 and asked her for £10.
She has been jailed for 18 months.
£100,000 cannabis grow
Four men who set up a £100,000 cannabis grow in a derelict stately home in Cumbria have been spared jail.
The judge sentenced Terence Clark, of Sevenacre Road, Liverpool, to two years suspended for two years, with six months drug rehabilitation and 150 hours unpaid work.
Jack Clark, also of Sevenacre Road, was sentenced to 14 months suspended for two with 25 days rehabilitation activity requirements, and a six month alcohol treatment program.
Stephen Dale, of Bowland Drive, Liverpool, was handed a two year community order with 30 days rehabilitation and 80 hours unpaid work, and Daniel Wood, Scales Green Farm, was handed six months suspended for 12 months.
Cartmel drink driver handed lengthy ban
Jamie Alan Edwin Procter, 23, of Haggs Lane in Cartmel, was charged with driving a BMW while nearly twice the limit.
He has been banned from driving for 18 months and fined £120.
Man jailed after stealing cosmetics worth £1,000 from Boots
Paul David White was charged with stealing items from Boots in Ambleside on August 31 and September 19.
The 38-year-old admitted that he stole £647 and between £400 and £500 of items in the two raids at the Market Cross chemist.
He was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison for both offences and told to pay £1047 in compensation to Boots.
Court bans A591 drug driver, 26
Ilias Melissinos, of Lake Road, Ambleside, has been banned from driving for a year after he admitted to drug driving at Ings on March 11 this year.
The 26-year-old was also fined £350 and told to pay £120 in costs and victim surcharges.
Barrow shoplifter in court for fifth time this month
Alan Dawson, 35, admitted seven charges of shoplifting when he appeared before South Cumbria Magistrates' Court.
Magistrates sentenced Dawson to a community order with 20 rehabilitation days, a fine of £50 and order compensation to be paid to the businesses.
Thief nabbed tobacco from two Barrow Bargain Booze stores
Michael Torkington stole tobacco worth £100 from two Bargain Booze shops in one night, a court heard.
Magistrates sentenced him to a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered £101 compensation for the two shops.
Dalton man banned after admitting drug driving charge
Richard Askeen Lucas, 31, of Long Lane, Dalton, appeared before South Cumbria Magistrates Court on Thursday, where he admitted one charge.
Magistrates in court banned Lucas for a total of 12 months.
He was also fined £250, ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
Ulverston man banned for drug driving offence
Kieran Vernon, 19, of Oakwood Drive, Ulverston, previously denied a total of four charges against him.
Three were dismissed, but on Thursday he admitted to driving while over the drug drive limit.
He was banned for 12 months and fined £260.
Woman banned and fined for driving offences
Hannah Woodend, 20, of Burton, Carnforth, has been fined after she admitted driving without due care and attention while over the drug driving limit.
After admitting the charges, she was fined £300 and banned from driving for 12 months.
Barrow man admits fraud after using bank card at Co-op
Matthew Howe used his friend’s uncle’s debit card to buy items from a Barrow newsagents and then a supermarket.
The bench handed down to Howe a 12 month community order requiring him to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work.
He was also told to pay £94.79 in compensation.
