THE Food Warehouse has invested more than three quarters of a million pounds in bringing a new store to Palmerston Road in Barry.

The supermarket opened its doors on Tuesday, September 29, creating 30 new jobs and offering shoppers all the value of a wholesale store without the need for membership.

The store is based on the former Waitrose site.

The Food Warehouse combines the convenience of bulk buying with great value fresh, frozen and ambient food deals across more than 3,000 product lines, as well as including exclusive ‘When it’s Gone, it’s Gone’ deals on a selection of homeware items.

During the first week of opening, customers also have the opportunity to win money off vouchers when they shop in store, plus other giveaways.

Launched just five years ago, The Food Warehouse now has more than 120 stores across Britain, with significant growth plans for the year ahead.

The stores wholesale and bulk buying offering is designed to attract small businesses and large families in the local area with its value across-the-board items and large bulk buy items.

Speaking about the new Barry store, operations director for The Food Warehouse, Kristian Barrett said: “We’re delighted to have opened our new store in Barry.

"The Food Warehouse is an innovative store format, responding to the changing needs of shoppers by offering amazing bulk-buy deals and homeware offers alongside a fantastic range of frozen, fresh and chilled foods.”

Barry deputy store manager, Leon Tregembo said: “Our opening day has been a great success and the whole team has really enjoyed meeting people from our local community.”

The Barry store opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 8am to 9pm, and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
