TWO Penarth traders are to join forces with a new website to help each other through a tough winter period.

Richard Snell at AB Snell and Sons has joined up with Matt Holland and Charlotte Court at Willmore’s 1938 on Stanwell Road.

Mr Snell’s new website – months in the making – details every item they sell in store. Shoppers can now visit the site and choose items for delivery.

“It’s taken so long but we are confident it will be worth it in the long term,” he said. “We’ve had to put every single item – every pen and pencil even – online. It’s been a hell of a task.”

AB Snell and Sons decided to move items online due to the impact of the pandemic, with footfall expected to drop considerably across the UK this Christmas period.

And as part of a new partnership, Mr Snell will hire out part of his website to Willmore’s.

The café and deli a few doors down will now be able to share their new takeaway menu on the site – which they are operating throughout the firebreak lockdown.

“We’re two local businesses joining forces in difficult times,” Mr Snell added. “All the independents here need all the help they can get.

“We’re going to start helping each other with deliveries too, so if I’m on my way to Sully and Willmore’s have an order that way, I’ll take it, and vice versa.”

Mr Holland said: “We’ve got to stick together to support each other and the local community. We’ll carry on doing takeaways with our new menu, and we’re grateful to Rick [Richard] for helping us, and we’ll help him.

“We’ve got to carry on being inventive and turning business over. We won’t be able to get through the pandemic otherwise.”
