Probably one of the most impressive sights in Dock No 2 was the Japanese troop ship Sanuki Maru in 1900, with a crew of 116 and 3,792 tons, it took on board 3,000 tons of Welsh coal supplied by the Glamorgan Coal Company.

During its brief stay in Barry hundreds visited the vessel.
