FROM the Archive this week features a photograph of Barry Dock.
The photograph depicts Subway Road and the Seamens Hall with the sign painted on the roof - sadly a building recently demolished.
Opened in 1902 by the wife of Mr John Cory the Seamens Hall cost £487, 8 shillings and 8d to build.
At the opening Captain E. Sharples the port missionary described donations from all parts of the country to help build the hall.

He personally painted the whole of the building and put the windows in himself.
The Hall was there to help sailors suffering hardship.
His religious work meant he visited ships in the docks to preach salvation to seamen.
Captain E. Sharples arrived in Barry in 1889 and retired from his missionary work in 1909, on his retirement he said after 50 years of work 25 years spent at sea he had only had a fortnight's holiday and was therefore due a well earned rest.
