Weekly figures released by Public Health Wales have shown that in the seven days up to Friday, November 6, Llandough and Cogan recorded the joint-highest number of coronavirus cases in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The new data focuses on areas containing around 2,000-6,000 households (known as Middle Layer Super Output Areas) and is based on rolling case rates for the past week up to the last weekend, the past 21 days up to the last weekend, and since the pandemic began – again up to the last weekend.

The reason for this is a slight delay as the more specific figures are processed, so the new data reveals cases in the week up to Friday, November 6.

The rolling weekly case rate per 100,000 population is a yardstick to provide an idea of how quickly the virus is spreading or receding in an area.

Between October 31 and November 6, Llandough and Cogan recorded 25 new coronavirus cases at a rolling case rate of 281.4 per 100,000 population.

Barry Island also recorded 25 new cases in the week up to November 6 at a rolling weekly case rate of 256.5 per 100,000.

Lower Penarth and Sully was not far behind, recording 23 cases at 219.2 per 100,000 population.

The other figures for that week are as follows:
