DEPUTY Minister and Assembly Member for the Vale of Glamorgan, Jane Hutt, held a virtual meeting on Friday, January 8 to discuss last months flooding.

Joining her were the Chief Executive of NRW Clare Pillman, Welsh Water chiefs, Sully Moors businesses and residents of Dinas Powys, where they talked about responding to immediate needs of those devastated by the floods of December 23, and to discuss longer term actions for flood prevention and alleviation in Dinas Powys.

Jane Hutt said: "Since the devastating floods on 23rd December I have been working to support the people of Dinas Powys who were severely affected by the floods.

"I organised a zoom Surgery on Friday 8th January with people affected, alongside the authorities who have the duty to respond to the flooding in the immediate and longer term.

"Not only did residents lose their Christmas but their household goods and possessions forced to live in extremely difficult conditions and worried about insurance, heating, bills and weather conditions.

"I have been meeting with the Chief Executive of Natural Resources Wales, Welsh Water Chiefs and liaising with Dinas Powys Community Council, Cardiff and Vale Citizens Advice, charitable trusts and the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

"I am also meeting the Environment Minister this week to discuss action both immediate and long-term. Flood prevention is vital and I am pleased the residents are setting up a Flood Action Group bringing together local expertise and local knowledge helping to guide the way forward".
