HERE are some of the localised coronavirus statistics for Penarth and surrounding from January 9 till January 15.

The figures from Public Health Wales (PHW) have shown which areas have the highest and lowest rates of coronavirus cases in recent days.

The new figures focus on areas containing around 2,000-6,000 households (known as Middle Layer Super Output Areas, or MSOAs) and are based on rolling case rates for the past week, the past 21 days, and since the pandemic began.

Across the Vale, Barry Island had the highest weekly case rate in the week from January 9 to January 15 with 472 cases per 100,000. The number of cases confirmed there was 46.

Other figures are:

  •  Lower Penarth and Sully had 34 new cases with a 324 rolling case rate
  •  Penarth had 21 new cases with a 197.3 rolling case rate
  •  Dinas Powys had 19 new cases with a 236 rolling case rate
  •  Llandough and Cogan had 28 new cases with a 315.2 rolling case rate
  •  Llantwit Major had 24 new cases with a 267.9 rolling case rate
  •  Ogmore-by-Sea and Llandow had 7 new cases with a 115.9 rolling case rate
  •  Peterston-super-Ely and Wenvoe had 22 new cases with a 288.4 rolling case rate
  •  Cowbridge had 11 new cases with a 170.8 rolling case rate
  •  Palmerstown had 34 new cases with a 387 rolling case rate
  •  Gibbonsdown had 38 new cases with a 378.8 rolling case rate
  •  Barry West had 41 new cases with a 444 rolling case rate
  •  Barry East had 52 new cases with a 462.3 rolling case rate
  •  Barry Dyfan and Illtyd had 15 new cases with a 273.3 rolling case rate
  •  Rhoose had 31 new cases with a 260.2 rolling case rate
