SOUTH Wales Police officers will be patrolling Penarth this weekend to enforce stay at home restrictions.

Vale of Glamorgan council officers will also be joining the police to carry out checks at the esplanade.

Under current Level Four restrictions people should not leave their house to socialise or travel by car for exercise, but there have been reports of people traveling by car to visit the area.

Just last month, police had to close the road along the seafront at Penarth Esplanade due to the number of people visiting the area on a Sunday afternoon.
