TWO-THIRDS of people over 50 in the Vale of Glamorgan have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal.

Public Health Wales data shows 39,153 people aged 50 and over have been given both doses of a vaccine up to May 23 – 67% of the area's age group.

They make up part of the 54,689 people who have been given at least one jab – 94% of the over-50 population.

Figures on second doses for each age group in the Vale of Glamorgan show:

  • 50 to 54 – 1,986 administered (20%)
  • 55 to 59 – 3,556 administered (36%)
  • 60 to 64 – 6,388 administered (71%)
  • 65 to 69 – 6,292 administered (79%)
  • 70 to 74 – 7,495 administered (94%)
  • 75 to 79 – 5,463 administered (94%)
  • 80 and over – 7,024 administered (91%)

Across Wales, 1 million people have had both doses, 39% of the over-16 population, and 2.1 million (81%) have had at least one dose.

Vaccinations are being given at 546 locations across Wales, including at 360 GPs' surgeries, 41 vaccination centres and 35 hospitals.

The Welsh Government aims for all adults to have been offered a vaccine by the end of July.
