A FURTHER 10 Covid deaths have been recorded in Wales, the latest figures reveal.

The number of deaths across Wales relating to Covid-19 has risen to 5,831 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. 

Of the newly reported deaths, one was recorded in the Aneurin Bevan Health Board area that covers Gwent - brinding the new total to 1,001. 

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), Covid deaths in Wales have hit their highest since March this year. 

There were 125 more deaths registered in Wales in the week ending September 10 than the week previous - total number 20.8 per cent above five year average. 

ONS data reveals 65 of these deaths involved Covid-19. 

In Gwent, Caerphilly has the highest number of new cases with 149, with Newport following close behind with 121.

Blaenau Gwent recorded 45 new cases, Monmouthshire saw 27 new cases, and Torfaen had 71 cases.
