The A127 has now reopened at several sections after initially being shut due to flooding in the early hours of the morning.
Large parts of southern Essex were issued with a yellow weather warning for heavy rainfall yesterday, and areas like Southend took the full brunt of it.
It was first reported just after 6am that the A127 Londonbound was closed due to floodwater and that the Rayleigh Weir underpass was shut in both directions.
Since then it has been reported by Essex Travel News that the A127 is now fully open on the Londonbound way at Progress Road.

Additionally, the Rayleigh Weir underpass is now also fully open.
However, there are still long delays on the A127 and the surrounding roads as the backlog begins to clear.
How bad was the flooding in Essex?
The flooding has been a huge problem for commuters who would have needed to make their way into London this morning.
It has also caused bus companies like Arriva to have huge delays on their usual routes, especially with their 1,9 and 29 services.
A post from the Twitter page Your Southend showed the extent of the flooding in the area.
