HERE are all the details for Penarth’s Remembrance Parade on Sunday.

November 14 marks Remembrance Sunday 2021 – a day to commemorate the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms.

The parade will form at Penarth station approach at 9.45am with the march from 10am.

A spokeswoman for Penarth’s Remembrance committee – a group of current or ex-military personnel who volunteer – said: “It has been a difficult two years for this important parade, but this year we are back.

“‘We will remember Them’ and we will pass on the history of dedication and sacrifice to our future generations.

“Albert Road school are contributing to Remembrance by displaying some of their own work at Penarth pier pavilion, Stanwell school are helping to decorate the pavilion, and Victoria school will be painting and displaying pebbles in the Garden of Remembrance on Rectory Road.

“We have volunteers collecting for the Royal British Legion at Tesco in Penarth and Morrison’s in the Bay.”

The route:

  • The parade will march off from Station Approach (1), turn right onto Victoria Road (2) before promptly turning right onto Stanwell Road (3).
  • Then it will follow Stanwell Road until its junction with Rectory Road when the parade turns right into Rectory Road (4).
  • It will then proceed along the whole length of Rectory Road before halting on the road in front of the Garden of Remembrance (5).
  • After the wreath laying ceremony (which lasts around 10 minutes) the parade with then reform and then turn left into Windsor Terrace (6). It will continue up this road to the roundabout when it will take the first left into Stanwell Road (7).
  • It will then follow Stanwell Road until it turns into Victoria Avenue not far from Trinity Church (8).
  • The parade will then move directly down to Victoria Square (9). The parade will fall out here for the Remembrance Service itself within All Saints Church (10).
  • After the service, the parade will reform on Victoria Road (11). It will march up Victoria Road and turn right back onto Stanwell Road (12).
  • It will then proceed back up Stanwell Road to the roundabout (13) and turn left down Windsor Road. It will continue to the Ex-Services Club (14) where the parade will be dismissed.

The spokeswoman added: “Penarth’s Remembrance committee would like to thank everyone for their support and invite all attendees of the parade to a free buffet at the Penarth ex Serviceman’s club on Windsor Road on November 14.”
