A WARNING has been issued to anyone thinking of invading the pitch at the next Wales match.

South Wales Police have issued the warning ahead of Sunday's match against Fiji at the Principality Stadium.

It comes after a 28-year-old man invaded the pitch during Wales v South Africa last Saturday (November 6).

He was escorted from the stadium and handed over to South Wales Police for questioning. He has also been given a lifetime ban from the Welsh Rugby Union for rugby events held at the stadium.

Assistant Chief Constable of South Wales Police, Mark Travis, said: "We worked with the stadium to identify the indivudual and swift action has already been taken to ban him from buying tickets for any future rugby matches at the venue. The man has been questioned by police and dealt with proportionately.

"Cardiff has built up a reputation for being one of the best venues in the world for hosting major events and we are proud to play our part in keeping visitors to the city safe. What we saw last Saturday at a major international rugby match was not acceptable and will not be tolerated."

The man has also been given a community resolution that must be complied with or there will be a risk of prosecution.

The community resolution was agreed today, November 12, after the man attended Cardiff Bay Police Station. The resolution is used when an offender accepts responsibility for their actions and is a proportionate way of dealing with low-level crime.
