A PENARTH store is celebrating two years of trading – joined by ex-Welsh international footballer Joe Ledley.

The SPAR on Brockhill Way, in Lower Penarth, is celebrating two years of trading on Thursday December 16 and hopes to welcome the community to the celebrations.

Last year, due to the Covid pandemic, the celebration of their first year had to be delayed but this year the shop has plenty of fun in store.

Former Wales and Cardiff City footballer Joe Ledley, who retired last month, will be at the event – cutting a ribbon at 12pm. The 34-year-old played as a central midfielder, making 77 appearances for Wales between 2005 and 2018.

There will also be mince pies and mulled wine on offer between 12pm and 2pm, with a raffle giving people the chance to win a Christmas hamper.

In a joint statement, the store team said: “‘Pay us a visit on Thursday as we celebrate two years of trading in the community at Spar Brockhill.

“We would like to thank all of our customers who have supported us over the last two years.

“Your support has enabled us to develop the business into an established local convenience store and we look forward to many, many more years providing you with great value, choice and service locally. Hope to see you on Thursday.”
