RESIDENTS at a Penarth care home recently enjoyed candelit dinners with their families.

Staff at MHA Morel Court on Raisdale Road organised three dates in December for a maximum of three guests to join their family members for a three-course meal prepared in house.

The home, which has 36 places for residential care, was unable to host these traditional meals in 2020 due to Covid restrictions in Wales at the time.

To ensure the safety of the 2021 events risk assessments were carried out with social distancing in place; the dining room at MHA Morel Court was setup with tables spaced out.

Penarth Times:

Admin manager, Mandy Jenkins, said: “All three days went along brilliantly and turned into beautiful evenings.

“The idea had a fantastic response from residents and their families, and we managed to book more than 15 tables across the three days.

“The dining room was decorated to create an ambience, and it looked really nice.

“Family members had to book in advance, and we made sure we booked the tables for them in a staggered time which allowed us to prepare the tables safely for the next booking.

“The staff, especially the cooks and chef deserve a lot of praise as they stayed behind and made sure the food was prepared to a very good standard.

“This tradition had to be cancelled due to Covid last year, but we will hopefully continue with it going forward.”
