NEW Covid figures from Public Health Wales show that there are more than 300 new cases in the Vale of Glamorgan.

There are 302 new cases in the Vale of Glamorgan and 828 in Cardiff.

Despite Cardiff having a far higher number of new cases, the case rate in the Vale of Glamorgan is higher.

In the Vale of Glamorgan, 226.1 people per 100,000 people tested positive for the virus.

In Cardiff the case rate is 225.7 per 100,000 people.

Both areas covered by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board have higher case rates than the average for Wales, which is 199.6.

There are 6,755 new cases in Wales including residents outside of Wales.

There have been three more deaths in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, putting the toll at 893 since the start of the pandemic.

Ten more people in total in Wales have died.
