THE latest Covid figures from Public Health Wales show there are more than 50 new cases in the Vale of Glamorgan.

There are 51 new cases in the Vale which has seen a huge decrease in the amount of new cases reported today - as has the rest of Wales.

Cardiff has the second highest amount of new cases in Wales with 189 and only Swansea has more cases with 220.

Wales has 2,276 new cases in total including residents outside Wales.

The case rates for both the Vale and Cardiff are lower than the average for Wales, which is 65.3 cases per 100,000 people.

The Vale of Glamorgan has a rate of 38.2 cases per 100,000 people while Cardiff has a case rate of 51.5.

The Vale's case rate is the second lowest in Wales.

There have been four more deaths in Wales, putting the toll at 6,654 since the start of the pandemic.

There have been no deaths in the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board area.

All data is correct as of 9am on Monday, January 10.
