THERE have been almost 200 new cases of Covid in the Vale of Glamorgan, according to latest Public Health Wales figures.

191 cases have been recorded in the area over a period of two days.

In Cardiff, there are 588 new cases.

Wales has a total of 4,327 new cases including residents outside Wales.

There has been one more death in the Cardiff and Vale area, taking the toll up to 910.

There have been a total of 6,782 deaths in all of Wales since the start of the pandemic.

The case rate for both the Vale and Cardiff is higher than the average for Wales.

Cardiff has the highest case rate with 160.3 cases per 100,000 people, while the Vale has a rate of 143.0.

Both come nowhere close to the highest case rate in all of Wales, which is Newport with a rate of 243.7.

The average rate for Wales is 134.5.
