BARRY Transport Festival is (hopefully) back this summer.
Barry Island will be taken over with hundreds of classic cars, heritage buses and coaches, and steamers for the annual festival this summer – subject to Covid restrictions at the time.
With Wales currently at Alert Level Zero, it is hoped that this popular outdoor event will be able to make its planned comeback from 10am on Sunday, June 12.
Barry’s Festival of Transport is usually a popular event, with thousands of people flocking to the area to check it out.
The festival includes static displays of cars from 1915 to 2005 and buses from 1949 to 1998, with the classic cars on the promenade and larger vehicles – including buses and commercial vehicles – on hardstanding in Nell’s Point car park.
Running buses, including open toppers, will be coming and going from the car park. Visitors can also ride on the classic buses which will offer transport from the park and ride at Barry Dock Offices and the depot on Broad Street.
Refreshments and stalls will be at the depot and on Barry Island on the big day.
The festival is organised by Cardiff Transport Preservation Group, in conjunction with Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Entry forms, for people hoping to include their vehicles, will be available soon – but the event will be subject to Covid restrictions at the time.
