THE latest data from Public Health Wales shows that the Vale of Glamorgan has one of the highest Covid case rates in the country.

The Vale has a rate of 161.7 cases per 100,000 people according to data accrued over the past two days.

Only Newport, Carmarthenshire and Torfaen have higher case rates.

Cardiff has more recorded cases than the Vale but a lower rate of 149.1.

Both are higher than the average for Wales, which is 139.6.

The Vale has recorded 216 new cases and Cardiff has recorded 547 new cases.

Wales has recorded 4,528 new cases in total, including residents outside of Wales.

There have been 11 more deaths in Wales, which means that 6,823 people have died in total.

None of the new deaths occurred in the Cardiff and Vale area, which means the toll stands at 912.
