THE latest data from Public Health Wales shows that the Vale of Glamorgan has a higher Covid case rate than average for Wales.

The Vale has a case rate of 61.4 cases per 100,000 people - the seventh highest rate in Wales.

It is however, much lower than the highest case rate in Wales, which is Carmarthenshire with 91.6.

The average case rate for Wales is 57.6.

Cardiff also has a higher case rate than average with 65.1 cases per 100,000 people.

The Vale has recorded 82 new cases while Cardiff has recored 239.

Wales has 1,868 new cases including residents outside of Wales.

There have been 11 more deaths in Wales, taking the toll to 6,863.

None of the new deaths occurred in the Cardiff and Vale area.
