THE latest data release from Public Health Wales shows that there are more than 70 new Covid cases in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The Vale has 74 new cases in total, a minor increase on the previous day's total of 64.

Cardiff has also seen an increase in cases compared to the day before's figures, with 232 cases reported in the data released today compared to 192 the previous day.

Cardiff has also had a proportionately higher increase in cases, with the case rate increasing more than the case rate in the Vale.

The case rate in Cardiff has increased from 52.3 per 100,000 people to 63.2, while the rate for the Vale has increased from 47.9 to 55.4.

The case rate in the Vale is higher than the average for Wales, which is 53.5.

However, the Vale case rate increased less than the case rate average for Wales, which was previously at 42.8.

Wales has a total of 1,761 new cases including residents outside of Wales.

There have been five more deaths in Wales according to PHW, meaning the death toll is at 6,894.

None of the most recent deaths were in the Cardiff and Vale area.
