THE latest data from Public Health Wales shows that the Vale of Glamorgan has the second-highest Covid case rate in Wales.

The data shows that there are 46.4 cases per 100,000 people in the Vale.

Only Cardiff has a higher case rate in the country, with 50.1 per 100,000.

The average case rate for Wales is 27.9.

There have been 62 new cases in the Vale of Glamorgan and 184 in Cardiff.

This is much higher than most other areas of Wales, with 903 cases reported across the country as a whole, including residents outside Wales.

However, the recent storms may have created a backlog of testing, with many in the affected areas not being able to attend PCR tests.

Another five people have died in Wales, which means that 6,961 people have died since the start of the pandemic.

There have been no new deaths in the Cardiff and Vale area, where there have been 918 deaths in total.
