A RECENT refurbishment for St Fagans Castle pub on Glebe Street and Windsor Road has transformed the venue, with new management determined to take it in a new direction.
The pub has been overhauled entirely, with owners Craft Union investing more than £220,000 in the project.
The middle of the pub has been restored, with new carpets installed, the flat above the pub has been refurbished, and a new cellar has been added.
New manager Jamie Thomas, 35, has specific plans in mind for the pub.
Mr Thomas said: "The clientele used to be a Friday/Saturday night crowd, just kids getting drunk.
"We're trying to turn it back the other way back to locals, families and partners."
The pub hosts multiple regular events, such as an open mic night and racing Wednesdays - and on Monday it turns into a dog-friendly venue - inspuired by Mr Tomas' own pooch - with furry friends given treats.
Mr Thomas, who has been working in pubs since he was 14, took over the St Fagans in January - and the first time he saw the pub was the day the refurbishments were completed.
However, while very confident in his own abilities, he is insistent he would be nowhere without his staff.
