PUBLIC Health Wales have said that there are more than 200 new cases of Covid in the Vale of Glamorgan over the past three days.

The Vale recorded 202 new cases, while nearby Cardiff recorded 534 new cases.

Including residents outside of Wales, there are 4,909 new cases in the entire country.

Although the numbers seem very high, it is worth bearing in mind that this is three days worth of data instead of the usual one day.

The case rate in the Vale of 151.2 cases per 100,000 people is almost exactly the same as the average for Wales (151.1)

Although Cardiff has a very high amount of cases, the larger population means that the case rate (145.5) is actually below the national average.

Five more people in Wales have died from Covid-related reasons, meaning that the death toll is at 7,075.

None of the new deaths occurred in the Cardiff and Vale area.
