CARDIFF and Vale University Health Board has announced their Stay Steady Clinics are returning to face-to-face sessions.

The Stay Steady Clinics focus on supporting people who are worried about falling or who are unsteady on their feet.

While face-to-face sessions have returned, telephone and virtual appointments will also continue.

Currently, sessions are only available in Roath Fire Station on the last Thursday of every month and Barry Fire Station on the last Friday of every month.

This is subject to change, however.

Though available to all residents in Cardiff and the Vale, the sessions are only available by appointment.

Patients can refer themselves to the Stay Steady Clinics by phone or email, and an an appointment will be set up with a falls specialist physiotherapist.

As people get older, the chances of the having a fall increases. A third of people over the age of 65 fall each year.

However, many of these falls are preventable - the Stay Steady Clinic will provide information on a number of exercises can help to stop falls.

If an individual has had a recent fall, has difficulty getting out of chairs or has a fear of falling that limits their daily activities, then the Stay Steady Clinic may be able to help.
