A POST office, which was trialled in a Penarth shop, will now be based there permanently.

In March 2021 a post office branch was trialled at SPAR on Brockhill Way in the Lavernock area of Penarth – offering basic mail and bill-payment services.

Following a review of the trial, the post office will be permanently based here – with services to expand, including banking services.

It will be open seven days a week, with opening times available at the bottom of this article.

Lavernock Post Office now offers the standard range of services that you normally get at a post office.

This includes Christmas stamps, Drop & Go for frequent senders and click and collect service to collect parcels from a range of companies. It also includes:

• Mailing services;

• Withdrawals,deposits and payments. This includes post office card accounts, personal and business banking, enveloped cheque deposits, barcoded deposit slips, postal orders, Moneygram, automated bill payments and key recharging;

• Rod fishing licences;

• Mobile top-ups and e-vouchers.

Lavernock Post Office is not the only one based in Penarth - there is also one based on Glebe Street, with both among more than 11,500 branches of the post office across the UK.

4,000 of these branches are open seven days a week - including Lavernock Post Office - and 99.7 per cent of the population in the UK live within three miles of a post office.
