JAMIE Pritchard has been nominated and shortlisted in the Young Leader Category for the prestigious Leading Wales Awards, as a result of his voluntary work on Radio Glamorgan - the Hospital Radio Service that broadcasts to the University Hospital of Wales.
Jamie, who lives in Cogan and attends Stanwell School, first got involved with Radio Glamorgan five years ago, at the age of 12.
Since then, he has gone on to present his own programmes, produce the successful Radio Glamorgan chart show, and has won a number of Radio Glamorgan Awards, including being the current holder of the Presenter of the Year award.
He organised the Up and Rising concert at the Point last year, featuring up and coming local bands, which raised funds for Radio Glamorgan and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
And at the Radio Glamorgan Balloon Race at Cardiff Bay, when poor weather threatened to dent the fundraising effort, Jamie did an impromptu show, putting on a sandwich board to raise money by persuading people to sign it for a donation (raising £40).
Jamie's achievements result from him being enthusiastic, hardworking and determined to succeed, according to the nomination.
The shortlisted candidates were interviewed by the Leading Wales panel on January 18, and the winners will be announced at the Leading Wales Awards Lunch on Thursday, February 21, at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff.
