GRIFFIN Books, a well-known Penarth independent book shop, will be hosting an event on mental health struggles and how nature can help.

The event will feature author Ben Short, who will talk about his recently released memoir Burn.

Mr Short worked at an advertising company in London eight years ago, before giving it all up to live in the West Dorset woods.

Burn details Mr Short's time fleeing his dissatisfying job in the city to his time as a woodsman working at a charcoal kiln.

Mr Short will be speaking on how he felt that changing his lifestyle was his only option and how his sense of inadequancy as he lacked practical skills.

This will be an examination of the on-going effects of modern work on mental health and how nature can help.

The event is in collaboration with Penarth's Speakeasy Club, an events organisation with a focus on issues surrounding mental health.

It will be held at Old Penarthians RFC on Thursday, May 5 at 7.30pm.
